How to Handle the Stress of Work and Personal Life
Presented by: Martha Deering
January 24, 2013 12:00-1:30pm
Simmons College, Special Functions Room, Main College Building
This program examines the difficult task of balancing the demands of work and personal life. The objectives are to identify the sources of work and life stress, develop skills to become more organized and efficient with their time and energy, improve their communication skills, create support networks, learn how to effectively delegate and set limits.
About the presenter: Martha Deering – MA, CAGS, LRC, CRC, LADC-I, CADAC-II, – Senior Consultant – received her Masters and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Assumption College. She is a Licensed and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, a Licensed and Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor, and a qualified Substance Abuse Professional through the U.S. Department of Transportation.. She has served on the faculties of Boston University School of Medicine – Fetal Alcohol Education Program, Worcester State College, Fitchburg State College, and Assumption College. She has taught classes at Holy Cross College, Carnegie Mellon University, and Westfield State College and co-taught a communications course for Pediatricians at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. For many years, she developed and presented continuing education programs for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health – Division of Alcoholism. She has multiple publications in the fields of Rehabilitation Counseling and Substance Abuse and is a frequent presenter at state and regional conferences. Martha is a Senior Consultant, account manager, clinician and trainer for The Wellness Corporation. She has over 19 years’ experience working in Employee Assistance Programs.
