Mikey’s 5K Road Race To benefit the MCH Scholarship Fund

REGISTRATION BEGINS AT 8:00A.M.
RACE BEGINS AT 9:30 A.M.
The race will be in Worcester, the details of the route are being finalized and will be posted soon!
This annual 5K road race benefits a scholarship fund awarded to students enrolled in the Addiction Counselor Program, in memory of Michael Calvin Hamblin, a much loved brother, son, nephew, cousin, grandson and friend. Mikey was a strong, smart, and funny young man who fought many battles in his short life. Sadly, Mikey was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia just after his 23rd birthday, and passed away only 8 months later. At his end, drug addiction still held the title of his most deadly battle. Mikey was so afraid he would not have a chance to recover or make a difference in this world. He always felt that, with the right program, he could have beat that battle with drug addiction, but he never got that chance. It is our goal, as his family, to be sure he is never forgotten, and that his memory will live on to help others with similar struggles. Each year our family raises money  for a scholarship fund we started in Mikey's memory to help people who have faced similar struggles.  This scholarship is awarded to 1-2 deserving students enrolled in the ACE (Addiction Counselor Program) at Westfield State College and/or Adcare Hospital. This program is dedicated to helping individuals in their struggles with drug and alcohol addiction. Many of us can relate to these struggles directly, whether they are our own or those of a loved one. Support is one of the most crucial steps in recovery, and we intend to be part of that for as many individuals as we can. I hope that many of you will take the time to do so as well. I thank you all in advance. And so does Mikey!
