Question by : Is wellness housing at college for people that are “straight edge” or for people that have had addictions?
I have had an addiction and an eating disorder so I think I want to live in Boston University’s “wellness house”. I don’t want to be around people that are like, total nerds and are like, “OMG drinking and drugs are so bad!!!” I just want to be around people who have been through the same stuff as me and can understand how hard it is to stay sober. I want a supportive community, you know?

I doubt you’ll find many recovering addicts in substance-free – to be honest, most teenagers who have struggled with addiction aren’t in a position to be attending a school like BU. There might be a few, but I suspect there will be a large group of people who choose not to drink for their own reasons (they may or may not be “nerds,” as you term them) and a large group of people who were forced into substance-free by their parents and will party anyway.
If you’re looking for a supportive community, look into student groups on campus or local groups. Do not expect to find people who “understand how hard it is to stay sober” in substance-free.
