“The Puppy Pooper”

Have you ever wondered why it is that when you buy a dog they will either live for 20 seconds of sitting and moping or live for 20 years with sicknesses that it seems your vet pulls out of his, mouth, to make you pay thousands of dollars? I was trying to grasp this around my grandmothers head last year when she wanted to get her Boston Terrier pregnant. Now, if you know what Boston Terriers are like, you know that their eyes almost pop out of their head when they see a ball. I could not imagine how much worse one ball being attacked by a 1 ½ foot dog 6 feet in the air time ten would be like, so I was just against getting Lily, (the Boston Terrier), fixed.
It doesn’t take long apparently to get your dog laid. Not 3 months later my grandmother brought home 4 little Boston Terriers, and so it began. Long nights of feeding every two hours because Lily was slurring, “Give me a bone,” from all of the pills she took. I know for a fact, she did not need those pills, nope! She had realized when she gave birth how she had thrown her life away. So, I would wake up at 9ish and everyone would be on their ends completely worn out from the sleepless night before, and I would say, “You still want to keep them, huh?” Everyone in the room looked at me like I was some kind of demented child for not wanting to have puppies, but I knew what those puppies were going to do.
The truth is, I never actually wanted to hold them or love on them because I knew, thats how they get you. They look you in your eyes and hypnotize you to forever feed them half of your dinner. So I kept my self away from them, for as far and as long as I could. Which was about 3 days. At first they were just turds in the bottom of the box, with a drugged fat dog they sucked off of Aliens Vs. Predator style. If you were caught in the room, my Aunt who had been taking care of them ever since they got home, would run at you like you were Jesus and give you a puppy and a clothe. I was of course made to “poop the puppies” which made me just fall in love with turds even more. As I “pooped” the black and white worm it started to cry. I felt so bad, and I didn’t know what to do, so I just kissed it. It was so sweet, and small, fit in one hand. A perfect little pocket contraption when your bored. Good invention, “The Puppy Pooper.”
So weeks went by, they started to look at you with sweet little glazed over eyes. Lily, who had to go to rehab because of her drug abuse problem, decided to be a mommy at last. The four little critters would wobble at full speed ahead, falling at every step, to get her milk. They weren’t turds now, they were just vultures. I didn’t mind the sucking on everything side effect of having 4 puppies, until the grew teeth. Then your fingures would burn when you’d wash your hair.
I never knew that I would be taught so many lessons by such puppies. We had not named them just yet because we wanting to see their personalities shine through first. But one night we came home and one of the puppies had passed away. I cried a little, I never knew how much I loved those dogs until she passed away. We named her Angel, so she would have wings to fly to heaven. Lily was devastated too. I couldn’t call them turds, devils, or vultures any more. I was in love.
So, a few more weeks went by and they mastered walking and running. My Aunt had the big boy, I had the little boy and my grandmother had the little girl. We took them out side thinking the puppies were clueless and were going to behave. They did, until we got down to the board walk. The little boy puppy that I had was flipping out in my arms so I sat him down and took off down the board walk. My
