Hands Tied With Son on Heroin?
Question by Christine M: Hands tied with son on Heroin?
Ok here’s what is going on he’s 25 in the hospital right now for heroin addiction and I can’t get any information from them I’ve tried to find the next program for him to go into but I’m now being told that he has to write have an intake and then they will make the decision. Well this isn’t working for me number one I don’t think he will go to the next place he can’t come back here where all his friends and dealers are so what do we do as parents to try and help them. Not only is he dealing with the heroin I now think that they are using methadone and I’m reading up on this drug which really sounds just as bad so he will have to be somewhere that can deal with this too. We are in Massachusetts and the programs here are no help and any where else I can’t afford. I’m a single mom and his dad is no help. He’ll be out in less than 20 days and I don’t know what to do or even how to do this anymore. He hasn’t been in my life for 3 years and I just can’t sit back any longer. HELP

I am sorry that your son chose this route in life. The fact is unless he wants to get better, he never will. And even if he wants to, it is at best a 50/50 thing with heroin. Good luck to him and you.
