Homeless Donation Program?

Question by : homeless donation program?
I’m 12 almost 13 years old and I want to make a difference in the world and help people that are less fortunate then i am. I have no idea AT ALL if this would be possible but i would like to maybe start a homeless donation program. It’s just that sometimes i feel greedy when i looked around in Boston when i recently went over the summer and i’m sitting there with an iced coffee and a warm piece of pizza. I just feel like everyone in the world should be happy regardless of anything. I understand some homeless people have no homes because of drug abuse, poverty, so on and so on but I think everyone should do something to help. I also understand that New York City and Boston has buildings that help homeless people already but this would be different. I was thinking maybe a community service thing sort of like a job, but not a job you will ever get denied for trying to apply for. For example, they could sweep the sidewalk, plant a community garden, and we could even have special counselors or something…
I don’t know i’m just brainstorming. so don’t go and tell me that i’m too young because no one is ever too young to do something they want to do.
I don’t want anyone to give rude comments i want your OPINION.
So i guess the real question is; Is this possible for someone my age? If not, what could i do?
Oh, i don’t go to church so please don’t suggest i go to one and volunteer there.

Thank you so much, everyone. It means sooo much to me <3 Best answer:

Identify all of the homeless shelters and agencies serving the homeless in your community. Searches on the World Wide Web, as well as a visit to the public library (and talking to the help desk) will help you with this. Visit the web sites for each of these organizations and learn more about them. Learn about why people are homeless, and what works not only in easing their immediate discomfort or addressing their immediate needs, but also, what works in helping them not be homeless any more.

Once you educate yourself about what’s happening in your community, as well as about homelessness in general, you are going to know exactly what to do to help.
