Rehnquist drug dependency detailed
By PETE YOST, Associated Press
WASHINGTON – A physician at the U.S. Capitol prescribed a powerful sleep aid for William Rehnquist for nearly a decade while he was an associate justice of the Supreme Court, according to newly released FBI records.
The records present a picture of a justice with chronic back pain who for many months took three times the recommended dosage of the drug Placidyl and then went into withdrawal in 1981 when he abruptly stopped taking it.
Rehnquist checked himself into George Washington University Hospital, where he tried to escape in his pajamas and imagined that the CIA was plotting against him, the records indicate.
Addiction?
Question by danielle_wears_prada: addiction?
I have been smoking weed for 5 years now, recently I have been re evaluating my situation and I feel now is the time to give up my vices. I have dealt with hell these past 5 years and I used weed as an outlet, it was always the thing that I could just do and any problem would melt away….for a while that is. I steadily smoked my way through high school and now most of college and I am ready to quit. But heres the problem, I have been a daily smoker for 5 years…quitting just like that is impossible believe me I have tried, every time I get a little weak or upset thats what I turn to. I would like to quit naturally and over a small amount of time without rehab, any suggestions? NOTE TO READERS: PLEASE FEEL FREE TO ANSWER HOW YOU CHOOSE BUT DONT JUDGE ME, I AM SIMPLY ASKING FOR HELP HERE IF YOU CANT PROVIDE THAT THEN DONT ANSWER, ALL RIDICULOUS RESPONSES WILL BE IGNORED. THANKS EVERYONE.
Statistics Help Please!?
Question by Katherine: Statistics Help Please!?
There is an old saying “Statistics means never having to say you’re certain.” In the context of hypothesis tests, why might this be true?
A. It’s just a joke on statisticians, and literally means nothing.
B. It isn’t — if I get a P-value of 0.0000001 (or less) I’m sure the null hypothesis is wrong.
C. To be totally confident, I would need a P-value of exactly 0.000000000, which is impossible.

Why Are There So Many Pre-Adult Questions About Prescription Drug and Drug Abuse?
Question by GK: Why are there so many pre-adult questions about prescription drug and drug abuse?
I see at least half a dozen questions a day from various categories from the pre-adult (teen, young adult) where they have taken or just got their hands on something like Adderall/Ritalin and think it is OK, to put this in their system without a doctors Rx. Some times, the have overdosed and are asking about the symptoms. Another half dozen are asking to see if they are going to pass a drug test tomorrow with agent X in their body. It just astounds me that this group thinks it is perfectly fine to ingest medicine not prescribed to them. Am I being to anal about what not to take?
LTD: Don’t get me started about that category too! I know what you mean girlfriend!
midnightmoon62: Thank you for such a helpful and shocking response. I would never have guessed that a kid would even think about taking such lethal (to them) medication.
