What Are the Chances of 3 Young Children Being Adopted by a Good Family?

Question by Tracey: What are the chances of 3 young children being adopted by a good family?
2 twin boys (2 yrs old) and their sister (5 yrs old) need a good home and family. They are Caucasian and have no physical or mental disabilities. Their parents are having their rights terminated to the children, by the state of Michigan, due to drug abuse and neglect. The children have been in foster care, but I’m not sure how long they have been there.

I’ve always heard that it’s harder to find homes for children, who aren’t infants, and especially hard to find a home to adopt all 3 of the children rather than just one or two.

Is this correct? Will it be hard to find a good home and a family that wants these children?

I know nothing about the adoption process in the US. I only know that many US Citizens end up adopting children from other countries, and I’m not sure why….

These healthy young children actually have a great chance of being placed together in a good family sooner rather than later. Once the termination of rights is finalized, if their current foster family doesn’t wish to adopt them, or are not found to be suitable for a permanent placement, their social worker will likely create a profile for them on AdoptUSKids.org as well as any Michigan-specific sites. The profile will say that all three children must be placed together, and indicate any other specifics, like they should have a two-parent family and be the only children in the home, or the youngest by far, as they will need a lot of attention to make up for the early neglect they suffered.

As far as US citizens adopting from other countries…some parents say they feel they are “saving” a child from a Russian/Eastern European orphanage (which is admittedly a terrible life for a person) or from a life of poverty in Africa or southeast Asia. Others desire a baby or toddler, which is harder to come by in the U.S. than it is in Africa, Asia or Central America.
